A quick search of gluten free Fort Wayne brings up a huge list of places. When you have celiac disease the label of "gluten free" raises many questions! The most important one being "Is it actually safe and do they understand cross contamination"? Luckily Fort Wayne got the memo! In our 3 day visit we couldn't get to all of the GF places that claim to offer a celiac safe dining experience but here is a highlight of my favourite stops:

Mercado on the Landing: Unique location featuring eccentric wall decorations offering casual Mexican dishes, burgers, seafood, and cocktails. Menu is not marked but the staff are extremely knowledgeable and very accommodating. My meal was prepared in a cleaned area and cooked in a separate pan.

Brooklyn Pints Micro-creamery: Located in Historic Sheridan Court offers hand crafted artisanal ice cream with gluten and dairy free options. Added bonus the waffle cones are made in-house, gluten free and served warm! Yes they are celiac safe! The owner is lovely and is happy to answer questions.

gluten free margarita pizza at Pint & Slice

Pint & Slice: YES! Gluten free pizza that is hand crafted, made to order and celiac safe! No this is not a dedicated facility but when you mention celiac they take all the necessary precautions. As someone who is very skeptical about pizza shops and extremely reactive to even the tiniest amount of cc I safely enjoyed a WHOLE pizza myself!
